GENERAL RULES:
INDEX:
GENERAL Rules
SAFETY Rules
PROGRAM-PURSE-POINTS Rules
CAR CLASS RULES
APPLICABILITY:
These Rulebooks, as a set, are intended to facilitate the orderly conduct of racing programs. They are the minimum standards/requirements. All participants are encouraged to exceed them to the greatest degree possible to promote safety, sportsmanship and quality racing.
The term Promoter as used here applies only to the actual Promoter. The term Track with an upper case “T” as used here applies to the Track Promoter and all employees, staff and volunteers. When the word Track is used, any decision made by the appropriate authority may be appealed to the Promoter. The word track with a lower case “t” refers to the racetrack portion of the facility. The status of the Track Owner or leaseholder is a matter of local law.
These Rules apply to all persons unless expressly exempted herein or unless exempted by the Promoter. Participation in any event at the facility indicates that you have full knowledge of the rules and agree to abide by the rules. The rules are intended to provide a reasonable level of safety and a level of fairness. How well those levels are maintained is dependent more upon the Car Owners, Drivers and Crew Members than anything else.
The decisions of the Promoter are to be accepted at all times. The Promoter may change or modify the rules or decisions at any time as needed to fulfill the obligations of the Promoter. Participation indicates acceptance that the Promoter is the final authority and that there is no higher appeal.
The Promoter may deviate or make changes to these rules that make the rules more restrictive, less restrictive or in other ways change or clarify the rules, as the Promoter deems necessary to conduct the program. It is not the intention of the Track to change the technical rules during the present season unless actions by car owners, constructors, crews or drivers cause the present rules to be ineffective or require clarification.
Drivers from a previous year will receive a set of General, Safety, Program-Purse-Points rules plus rules for their class at the winter drivers meeting. After that meeting Rulebooks are normally available at the ticket booth.
The track reserves the right to accept fully, accept with limitations or restrictions, or reject the participation of any and all persons, race cars or other vehicles.
Some rules apply only to one or more classes or situations. Only where that distinction may not be obvious will the rules further describe the applicability.
The term “stock car racing” is meant to infer that unless you are allowed to modify something or replace something, it must remain “stock” as in original equipment on a specific make and model of car to include aftermarket replacement parts intended to duplicate the OEM parts. Before you buy or build or modify, talk to the Technical Inspector. Questions asked verbally will be answered verbally. Questions asked in writing will be answered in writing. Please allow time for a proper answer. This is a part time job and so we must respect the Technical Inspectors regular obligations to their jobs and families. The fact that you bring something to the track does not mean that you will be allowed to race it.
The Track makes no expressed or implied warranty of safety by publishing these rules. The compliance with and/or use of these rules does not guarantee AGAINST INJURY OR DEATH TO PARTICIPANTS, SPECTATORS, OR OTHERS. Injury or death to personnel involved in this sport is a reality that is to be recognized by all participants.
TRACK FACILITIES:
No one is to enter the scoring booth, ticket booth, sign-in booth nor Technical Inspection Area without specifically being invited by a Track Official.
No one may race a vehicle on the track other than the driver of record without receiving permission from the Track.
No one may enter the confines of the track except Track personnel and Drivers (and persons qualified for track packing during track packing).
Properly dispose of waste oils, fluids, batteries and tires. Do not place such items in Track trash receptacles. Bring empty containers with you. Bottle your waste oil and fluids and take them with you. Do not leave batteries nor tires at the track. Scrap metal may be left at the location designated by the Track. Anyone found dumping waste fluids, batteries or tires may be penalized similar to other Track infractions and they may be subject to Jurisdictional, County, State and/or Federal prosecution.
CONDUCT:
The law enforcement officers and security personnel on duty are responsible for enforcing all Track, Jurisdictional, County, State, and Federal laws. The Track personnel on duty are responsible for enforcing Track Rules and facilitating the conduct of the Program. Any person who flagrantly interferes with any of the above in carrying out their duties may be disqualified for a race, disqualified for the Program and/or be banned from the Facility for a period of time to be determined by the Promoter.
The Driver is the spokesperson for each crew. The car Owner and all others are to speak to the Track through the Driver.
The Car Owner and Driver are responsible for the conduct of their crew, family and fans. Inappropriate acts or displays will not be tolerated. The Promoter is the final authority on what acts or items are appropriate or inappropriate. Examples include rough driving, fighting, entering the confines of the track as other than as a driver of a car, verbal threats, vulgar language, vulgar gestures, mis-use of a pit pass, possession of a firearm or combat weapon, and use of alcohol or drugs in the pits or on the track. Anyone associated with a car who commits a major unsportsmanlike act may cause that car to be disqualified from a race and/or from the program and one or more individuals may be required to leave the facility in an expeditious manner. A fine may be imposed and be required to be paid prior to further participation. Proceeds from fines go to the Point Fund or Rollover Fund. The Promoter may take any or all of these actions depending upon the seriousness of the activity.
The Track may require changes to objectionable wording and/or graphics on cars, equipment, signs and clothing and the covering of tattoos.
Disqualification of a Car and/or Driver includes the forfeiture of finishing position, purse, trophy and/or points for that race and/or that program as directed by the Promoter.
CREW ACTIVITIES:
It is better to ask first than act first. Do not jeopardize the status of your Driver by committing a foolish act.
Crew Members must always act responsibly and with sportsmanship towards their competitors.
No person may operate a vehicle (other than the race car), on the Track facility unless the person is properly licensed to do so and the vehicle is legal to be operated and the vehicle is covered by liability insurance.
DRIVER ACTIVITIES:
No driver may get out of their car during a race unless there is an emergency or there is a red flag or they go to the pits or they are directed to do so by a Track official. A problem with the car such as a flat tire or a broken part is not an emergency. Penalty = Disqualification for that race. If the infraction occurs after the checkered flag the driver will be disqualified for the just completed race.
No person may enter the pit area of a car without being invited. Penalty = Must leave the pits for the remainder of the event. If the infraction occurs after the last race for that class of car, the ban is for the next regular event.
Changing Drivers for a specific car that has already been assigned a starting position or racing a car other than the one previously given a starting position for a particular race will cause that car to start that race or races in the rear.
DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS:
All drivers must possess a valid state driver's license or receive a waiver from the Promoter. Participation should include complying with any conditions/restrictions such as being required to wear glasses while driving. The Promoter may allow/disallow participation as a Driver, based upon the Promoter’s knowledge or lack of knowledge/information as to the Driver’s experience, ability and qualifications.
By entering a particular class, a Driver has indicated that they posses the skills to drive at that level of competition.
GENERAL ACTIVITIES:
Any person found in possession of any illegal substances under Local Jurisdiction, County, State or Federal law or found guilty of breaking any illegal substance law while at the Facility may be suspended from the facility for a period of time to be determined by the Promoter and may be prosecuted.
Any person found in possession of alcohol in the pits or on the track or found to be intoxicated in the pits or on the track may be suspended from the Facility for a period of time to be determined by the Promoter.
Any person found to be acting other than in the best interest of racing or other than acting in a sportsmanship manner may be suspended from the facility for a period of time to be determined by the Promoter.
Track Officials may send any car that does not present an appropriate appearance off of the track at any time. Track Officials may deny access to the facility to any car that does not present an appropriate appearance.
Track Officials may inspect any car, pit area, in place pit equipment, truck beds and open areas of vehicles and trailers at any time. Failure to allow inspection will disqualify the car. The Track will not be expected to have access to closed vehicles and closed equipment containers.
COMPLAINTS ABOUT PROCEDURES:
There are Track Officials charged with the responsibility for resolving most complaints concerning Track procedures. These include the Race Director who is usually stationed at the pit entrance to the track, the Starter in the Flagstand, the Technical Inspector(s) in the Tech Area, the Scorer(s) in the Scoring Booth and others. The Driver, unless incapacitated or has been removed from the facility, is the only person authorized to question Track Officials.
Any ruling by a Track Official may be appealed to the Promoter who may or may not elect to hear the appeal. If the appeal is not accepted the ruling by the Track Official stands.
INSURANCE:
The Track may provide insurance in several forms. The agents and carriers contracted for this insurance may change from time to time. Address all insurance concerns to the Track Office. Do not race; do not participate in any activity, if you do not know what your insurance status is at this time.
Contact any Track Official in case of any injury or emergency. Follow the instructions of the Track Official and in the case of an injury, the medical personnel who respond. Contact the Track Office as soon as circumstances and time permit. The Track Office personnel will explain any insurance coverage to you. Failure to properly notify Track personnel of an accident or injury may cause you to not be eligible for assistance and/or insurance claims.
All crew members should inspect the pit area and the driver should also inspect the track to satisfy all parties that the areas are safe. Report unsafe items to the Track Officials. For the benefit of all involved, read, understand and follow the safety rules available from the Track.
PRE-RACE PROCEDURES:
Program: (Please refer to the Program-Purse-Points Rulebook.)
Pit Procedures:
The Pit Area can be a very hazardous area. Be alert at all times for the safety of yourself and those around you.
All persons entering the Pit Area must have a valid State Drivers License or other picture identification clearly showing them to be at least sixteen (16), years of age. It is the understanding of the Track that under Louisiana law a parent or legal guardian may not sign away the rights of a minor. An underage Racer may be allowed to race upon receipt by the Track of an acceptable document with a properly notarized signature of the parent(s) or legal guardian(s). This document must be surrendered to the Track and will be kept on file. A document acceptable to the Track is available from the Track. All persons entering the Pit Area must sign, in person, a Release Form / Sign-In Form and wear the issued Pit Pass in plain view. The Track is not responsible for lost passes. The Drivers are responsible for signing in on all cars that they drive at the event and payment of the Pit/Entry fee for each car being driven.
Only one tow vehicle per race car is to enter the Pit area. Additional vehicles may be approved by the Promoter upon payment of the same registration fee as the race car being accompanied. On special event nights such additional space may not be available.
No two (2) nor three (3) wheel vehicles are to be operated in the pits. Four (4) wheelers may only be operated by persons processing a valid drivers license. Such vehicles must be registered with the Race Car on a Four Wheeler Registration Form and must have the car number clearly posted on two opposite sides of the vehicle.
Park your rig in a sportsmanlike and sensible manner, not so far from the rig next to you so as to take up excessive space, but far enough so both of you can move around your equipment safely. Look at the parking scheme as you drive in and park similar length rigs in the appropriate areas. Clearly note saved spaces by marking the area with a tire.
All operators of vehicles should observe a five-mile per hour speed limit in the pits. No spinning of tires, no doughnuts.
Notify the Technical Inspector the first time a car is brought to the track, the first time it returns after an accident for which it had to be towed and the first time it returns after any significant modifications. Determine if you should take the car to the Tech Area or if an Inspector is going to come to you. Do not take a car onto the track that has not been inspected as described here.
The Pit area must be cleared within one hour after the completion of the race program and the Track Facility must be cleared within one and one-half hours after the completion of the race program. Penalty = Forfeiture of all points earned during that program.
Track Packing:
It is for the good of the cause and should be participated in by all cars when your class is called. Track packing may be performed by any competent crew member who could by rule qualify to be a driver. When designated as mandatory by the Track, all cars must make a minimum of ten (10) laps following the directions of the Track Crew. Failure to properly complete this task will result in the car starting in the rear of the Feature.
Hot Laps:
They are not mandatory but are highly recommended. Space yourself far enough behind the car in front of you that you should not catch up in two to three laps. Passing should be very rare and done only when approaching a significantly slower car.
Qualifying: (Please see the section on Program-Purse-Points)
Drivers Meeting:
It is mandatory for all drivers and recommended for owners and crews. All engines, generators, compressors, audio devices, etc. are to be turned off at the time designated for the meeting and are not to be started until the meeting is over.
Ceremonies:
During the period for prayer, National Anthem and other such items, all engines, generators, compressors, etc. are to be turned off at the time designated for the ceremonies and are not to be started until the ceremonies are over.
RACE PROCEDURES:
Communications:
No electric/electronic communications are permitted between drivers and crews. Remove all communications equipment before the car enters the track. Track to Driver communications by one way radios is approved where required.
Staging Area:
Move your car to the Staging Area when your class is called. If starting positions are assigned, do not move in tightly until you are behind the car scheduled to start ahead of you. If the car does not arrive in a reasonable time, move in behind the next car in your row. If you are in line prior to your class rolling completely onto the track but are out of position, you have one lap to move into the correct position. If you were not in line when your class rolled out you will not race that event. The show will not be delayed for late cars.
If your car has to be push started you must start that race at the rear.
If you “request the rear”, notify the Staging Area Track Official, the Race Director, drivers around you and the Starter by tapping your hand on your left shoulder and on your roof.
Track Action:
Do not take a car onto the track unless waved on by a Track Official. Do not shift into racing gear or accelerate unless you see the Starter is in Flag Stand.
Flag Signals:
The Starter will use Flags and lights on the track to signal the status of the race.
GREEN: Go. The race is started. Thereafter it indicates that the track appears to be clear.
YELLOW: Caution. There is a problem on the track. Slow down at a pace sufficient to avoid contacting anything in front of you and avoid passing the car in front of you. Normally drivers DO NOT race back to the Flagstand. There is one important exception: After the White flag has been given to the leader, if a yellow flag condition arises the Starter will wave the White and Caution flags together and will turn on the Yellow Light leaving the green Light “ON”. If both lights cannot be on at the same time he will wave the White flag and switch the lights between Yellow and Green. You may continue to cautiously race back to the Finish Line. When operating on clear portions of the track, reposition yourself to the running order you were in the last time you passed the Finish line under Green. Lapped cars will maintain their track position unless there are five or less laps to the end of the race. If there are five or less laps to the end of the race, fall to the rear of cars on the lead lap and maintain your position with relation to other lapped cars. Be alert for signals from Track Officials to reposition you. If you disagree with your position stop and check with the Race Director. A race that was in progress will resume with the cars in order as they last passed the Finish Line on a lap that was completed by all cars on the lead lap.
RED: Begin to stop. Look for a serious safety condition on the track. Operate your car slowly and away from the other cars and equipment. The lead car should move to the end of the clearest section of track and park at the lowest part of the track (below the inside groove). Each additional car is to park in sequence. Do not worry about your running position at this time. Do not stop in or above the groove. If you want to go to the Pits, stop first and ensure that your path and action will not impede any action by Track safety crews. Notify an official and/or wave at the Flag stand. When given permission you may then proceed to the Pits. If you return to the track before the Red flag period is over you will retain your running position even if you cannot safely return to your original parking position. If the Yellow flag is out, fall in to the rear of the field. If the race is “called” during the Red flag period and you are in the Pits you will be credited with your finishing position as if a Yellow flag had been given. All references to a Red Flag in these rules are designed to imply that Yellow Flags always precede Red Flags even if the Starter goes directly from Green to Red.
BLUE with a slashed stripe: Move over. A faster car or cars are approaching from the rear. Move out of groove and let the car(s) pass. At the Driver’s meeting the Starter will usually tell you if the preferred move on this night is above or below the groove. Sometimes a car that has been trailing you in position may pass you when you move over. This happens, it is unfortunate, but it is part of racing. Repeatedly ignoring the Blue flag will result in a Black flag and the Scorers will not score your car.
BLACK: Leave the track as soon as safely possible. Your car may be unsafe or you may have broken a rule for which you are being disqualified. During a Green flag period you must proceed off of the track. If it is a Yellow or red flag period you may stop at the track entrance area and ask for additional information from the Race Director. Your car will not receive any further scoring until the problem is corrected. If the problem has been corrected bring the car to the track entrance and wait to be waved back onto the track by the Race Director.
CROSSED FLAGS: The race is half over. If the race is an odd number of laps the crossed
flags will be shown at the point designated in the Drivers' Meeting.
TWO PARALLEL FLAGS: Two laps to go until the race is over. If you are lapped by the leader on the first of these two laps be aware that the next flag you see may be the checkered flag.
WHITE: One lap to go until the race is over. Lapped cars may not be in sequence to receive this flag.
CHECKERED: The race is over. Maintain your speed up through the next turn. Slow down on the backstretch. Watch for crowding at the track exit. See the item “Post Race Procedures:”.
START/RE-START PROCEDURES:
The Pace Lap is not a “Hot Lap”. The intention is to start the race the second time the cars come down the front straight.
Pace Car in Use: The Pace Car will lead the Pole Cars around the track. Flashing lites on the Pace Car indicate the race is not starting. Lites off on the Pace Car indicates the race will “probably” start. For the start of the race the Pace Car will pull off the track in turn three (3). The inside Pole Car continues that pace/RPM to the start cone. The Pole car “fires” at the cone/green flag.
No Pace Car: Once the Pole Car Driver observes that the Starter is in the Flag stand the Driver may accelerate and shift into the racing gear. Initially the outside pole car should stay behind and to the right of the Pole car so that they might check out their steering and engine response. The inside car on the second row should stay behind and to the left of the outside pole car and all other cars should continue this staggered pattern while checking out their cars. Do not be aggressive. Do not overlap the car in front of you until passing the Flagstand. Maintain a safe separation. After passing the Flagstand cars that are being allowed to reposition should do so, carefully, at this time. If the car(s) ahead of you in the lie-up are not in position move straight up, do not criss-cross. If there are cars at the end of one row that do not have cars next to them, they may cross over, in order, and take the next available spot. The Pole car should set the pace by using an RPM that is near the bottom of the torque curve while in the racing gear.
ALL STARTS: Any car that clearly fires before the Green may be sent to the rear if there is a re-start. Any car that hits a cone without being forced into the cone may be penalized one lap if it is a good start and the entire race goes "Green". If there is a Yellow after the cone is hit that car will be sent to the rear and will loose only the positions and not a full lap. Once the Green Flag/Light has been waved all cars are expected to accelerate safely to racing speed. No car may overlap bumpers with the car in front until after passing the Start Cone. Violations will be punished the same as the hitting of the cone procedure.
A "Good Start" is composed of two elements.
The first element is the position of the Pole car and the Outside Pole car when the Green comes out. The Outside Pole Car is to be even with or no more than one car length (rear bumper to front bumper) behind the Pole Car when the Green comes out. If the Outside Pole car is ahead of the Pole Car the violation will be punished the same as the hitting of a cone procedure.
The second element is that all cars must pass the Flagstand. Any car causing a spin or having a mechanical failure will go to the rear for the next star/re-start.
The first start will be double file. All subsequent starts will be single file.
Any car that causes a Yellow Flag for the following reasons will be sent to the back:
Causing an accident/Yellow Flag.
Stopping on the track for an inappropriate reason.
Intentionally cause a Yellow Flag. May be Black Flagged.
Intentionally delay a Green Flag.
Dropping debris on the track other than that resulting from a previous wreck in that race in which that car was not at fault.
Once the Green Flag has dropped for the first start, all subsequent starts are termed restarts. Restarts are single file and in the order that the cars last passed the Finish Line on the last lap scored before the Yellow Flag. Lapped cars do not go to the rear except when there is a restart following a Yellow Flag with less than five laps to go.
Any un-sportsmanlike act by a Driver such as deliberately causing another car to spinout or any action that places another driver in an unsafe condition is cause for that car to be Black Flagged/Disqualified.
The third Yellow Flag charged to a Driver in one race will result in the disqualification of that Driver/Car for that race. If the third Yellow was for a mechanical problem the car is not disqualified but must leave the race and will be credited with a finish as allowed by the rules.
On re-starts with five or less laps to go the lapped cars will go to the rear and establish their running order by the number of laps they are down and then by position on the same lap.
All re-starts will be for at least two laps to go. If the White Flag has already been displayed and there is a Yellow condition on the track that will not hinder the leader racing carefully back to the Finish Line, the Starter will wave the Yellow and White Flags in one hand and point to the problem area with his other hand. Both the Green and Yellow Lights will be on. If the White Flag has been displayed and a Red Flag situation occurs, at the discretion of the Race Director or Promoter the race may be scored as per the last Green Flag lap or it may be re-started with two laps to go.
RACING:
Obey the Flag/Light signals from the Starter
After an accident and after the Yellow is out, if you want your car checked for damage, stop at the track entrance and ask the Track Official to check your car. If the Red is out, get permission from a Track Official prior to moving your car. The Track Officials will give the car a brief visual check. The Track assumes no liability for this courtesy. If you are unsure of the condition of your car, take your car to the pits. If there is loose sheet metal they will try to remove it. They will attempt to remove loose bumpers and other structural items only if you insist and you assume full responsibility. Should the loose item(s) not be able to be removed you will be instructed to go to the pits. You do not lose your track position while having your car checked on the track during a Yellow or Red condition. If the Track Officials can not remove the loose item you must go to your pit. During a Yellow Flag you will lose your position. During a Red Flag you will not loose your position if you return to the track prior to the end of the Red Flag period. The Driver may exit the car on the track to look over the car and attempt repairs only during a Red Flag.
POST RACE PROCEDURES:
All cars slow down going into Turn One. Go high or low, stay out of the middle and make no intimidating moves. The top four (4) cars continue through turn two and enter the Tech area on the backstretch. No not brake and turn into Tech in Turn Two. There ar cars behind you that need room to slow down. Positions five and back are to exit Turn Two high and exit the track in Turn Three. Space yourselves out on the backstretch for safety. The fifth and subsequent finishers should be prepared to go to the Tech Area if they are called.
TECHNICAL INSPECTION:
Only the Driver may be with the car in the Tech Area. Tech will provide any tools needed to pull valve covers. Remove the hood, open the trunk and wait for the Inspector. Any car found to be illegal or any car not reporting for Tech will cause the driver and car purse/points to be forfeited for that race and for any other race that day where the car was not inspected. If any component other than the carb, valve covers, distributer or transmission coverplate is required to be removed, the Track will reimburse the Car Owner for any needed gaskets. If a carb, distributer or head is to be pulled the Driver will be given the option of putting the car on the trailer or at the winch location prior to removing those items. Rags or other covers for exposed areas are the responsibility of the Driver.
Alcohol fuel refers to Methanol alcohol only. No additives, including water, may be added that will prohibit the alcohol fuel checking .796 (+- .002) specific gravity at 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Other checks to determine if illegal additives are present may be used.
Gasoline means pump gasoline or racing gasoline only. NO additives may be used. Gasoline may be checked with a DC meter. A reading not consistent with the
brand of gasoline used will initiate a warning. Any reading greater than zero shall be cause for disqualification.
Any fuel sample that fails the first test will be cause for a re-test after all testing equipment has been cleaned and/or field calibrated if appropriate.
All disqualifications and the reason for the disqualifications will be announced over the PA system prior to announcing the official results.
All inspection decisions may be appealed in writing by the Driver to the Promoter.
PROTESTS/CLAIMS:
There are four types of protests, visual parts, obscured parts, finishing position, and claims for carbs or exchange. Only a registered Car Owner in the same class running in the same race may lodge a protest against another car. The Car Owner may designate a person(s) who may protest for him if so designated on the Sign-In Sheet. Only the Car Owner wishing to protest the finishing position for his car may protest the finishing order.
A visual protest may be made in writing on the Track provided form to the Turn Four Track Official at any time prior to the start of the race. A Technical Inspector will respond verbally to the Protest as soon as possible given the pace of the action and other duties. If the protest seems genuine, a serious resolution will be sought. Harassing type protests will be called such and the Promoter will be notified. The Protest Fee must accompany the Protest Form. If the protest is upheld (the car is found to be illegal for a protested item), the protest fee will be returned to the protesting Car Owner. If the protested part(s) are found to be legal, the protest fee will be given to the Car Owner of the protested car. If during the course of looking at a protested car the Technical Inspectors identify an illegal item not on the protest list, the car will be disqualified the same as if it did not pass post race inspection and the Protest Fee is split between the two Car Owners. A protested car may not race until any illegal condition is corrected and the car passes a technical inspection.
Protests of obscured items may be made in writing on the Track provided form to the Turn Four Track Official at any time prior to the start of the race. If time permits the Track will inform the Car Owner and Driver of a protested car prior to the next race for that car. Protested cars will not be torn down until after the last race for their class. It is recommended that the hauler for the protested car be repositioned to the Tech Area to simplify tool availability and the loading of the car after the tear-down. The protest fee must accompany the Protest Form. The Track is entitled to $50 of the fee to help offset the overtime for the Technical Inspectors. If the protest is upheld (the car is found to be illegal for a protested item), the remaining protest fee will be returned to the protesting Car Owner. If the protested part(s) are found to be legal, the remaining protest fee will be given to the Car Owner of the protested car. If during the course of looking at a protested car the Technical Inspectors identify an illegal item not on the protest list, the car will be disqualified the same as if it did not pass post race inspection and the remaining fee is split between the two Car Owners. A protested car may not race until any illegal condition is corrected and the car passes a technical inspection.
A protest of the finishing order must be made verbally at the pay window within ten minutes of the announcing or posting of the complete finishing order. If the Track does not initially agree with the protest within ten minutes the Car Owner has ten more minutes to put the protest in writing. The track will decide if it wants to hold up payouts. If payouts are made and subsequently the finishing order is revised, no Car Owner will have to return any purse and the Track is responsible for any additional purse due the Car Owner(s).
Please refer to the PROTEST/CLAIM Form. Carbs and cars in several classes may be claimed or claimed for exchange. The claim must be made to the Turn Four Track Official on the Protest/Claim Form and be accompanied by the proper cash prior to the start of the last race. The Track will notify the Car Owner and Driver in a time manner and the car subject to the claim will initially report to Tech after the next race to be marked by Tech. Following the last race of the event the car will be put on the trailer or positioned at the winch and the claimed item will be removed only under supervision of a Track Official.
Entry of a car in competition includes the consent of the Car Owner that any illegal part found on the car becomes the property of the Track. In the case of claimed carbs or claimed cars for exchange, they belong to the Car Owner who claimed them, even if they are illegal.
