2008 - DIRT MINI STOCK SPECIFICATIONS – 2008


 

NOTE:  No one under the age of sixteen (16), is permitted in the Pits.  An acceptable picture ID is required at the Pit Entrance for anyone appearing to be age twenty-five (25), or younger.

2008 MINI STOCK RULES


2008 MINI STOCK RULES
Weight shall be a minimum of 2,200 pounds, with allowment of one (1) pound per cc of engine displacement. The engine displacement must be written on the hood.

MUFFLERS ARE REQUIRED SCHONFELD  PART  #  112530 or 112535.   NO EXCEPTIONS.


1. Body

A. 1960 and newer rear wheel drive compact cars only.
B. Cars must have stock appearing full body. This includes fenders, quarters, doors, hood,deck lid and floor board . Roof line must remain stock and stock height. All body panels can be made of any metal as long as they keep stock appearance like stock panels. NO fiberglass!
C. May use aftermarket nose and tail piece.
D. Doors must be welded or riveted on.
E. The fenders may be cut for tire clearance. Excessive clearance is not permitted.
F. There must be a firewall between the driver and the engine, and driver and the fuel cell.
G. Firewall, pedals and seat must remain in stock location.
H. All glass, chrome and flammable materials must be removed. No plastic or aftermarket wedge noses, all must be filled in.
I. The dash may be removed.
J. Spoilers can be made out of a transparent material or aluminum, and may have a maximum size of 8” tall by 55” wide. Side braces maximum size 20 ¼” long, 2 ½” tapered to 7” tall. A third spoiler brace may be used and will not exceed the size of the braces. This spoiler must be fastened to the deck lid itself, (can’t be added to an existing spoiler of any kind).
K . Rub rails may be installed on the sides between the tires. Rub rails may not stick out past the tires. Ends must be turned inward. Rub rails must have a thickness of .090 and must have at least 1 ½” diameter. (one per side)

2. Chassis

A. No tube chassis. From strut tower to where shocks mount up is considered the chassis. You may add tubing in front of the strut tower and behind the shock mounts.
B. Cars are required to have a minimum of a 4 point roll cage. The minimum tubing must have a wall thickness of .090 and diameter of 1 ½”. A full cage is allowed for safety. The roll cage may not alter the original suspension geometry of the car, but only serve to protect the driver in an accident.
C. Must have a minimum of three (3) door bars on the left side and two (2) door bars on the right side.
D. Frame and suspension parts must remain stock for make of car. No truck or homemade frames. Frames cannot be lengthened or shortened.
E. You may tie sub-frame cars together.
F. All suspension and bushings must be in place in the original location. No extra suspension bars allowed.
G. No minimum wheelbase, must be stock for make of car.
H. Adjustable weight jacks allowed on all 4 corners.
I. Springs must be stock type.
J. Shocks must be stock type, no more than one per wheel. No coilovers.
K. Steering quickener permitted.

3. Fuel System

A. Electric fuel pumps allowed, only if the driver has a kill switch for the fuel pump within his/her reach and a mercury shut off switch attached to the fuel pump.
B. Fuel cell required, it must be mounted and securely fastened behind the rearend housing with a firewall between driver and fuel cell.
C. Fuel will be gasoline only. No alcohol.

4. Seats

A. Racing type seats required.
B. The seat will be securely fastened to roll cage.

5. Seat Belts

A. Quick release, five (5) point shoulder harness no less than 3” wide is mandatory.
This harness must be mounted below the drivers shoulders and come from behind the driver. The date on the belt must not exceed 4 years. Damaged belts will not be permitted.
B. Both ends of belt must be securely fastened to roll cage with quality bolts no less than 3/8” in diameter.
C. Window nets are required.

6. Tires and Wheels 44 or 57

A. Tires will have a 7” minimum and 10” maximum width. Tires must pass through hoop.
B. Maximum wheel width 8”.
C. Tires must punch 40 or harder with Durometer at all times.
D. Wheels must be steel.
E. Beadlock wheels allowed.
F. No tire softening chemicals.

7. Engine

A. Must be four (4) cylinder.
B. Must be stock for the make of the car. Ford in Ford, Toyota in Toyota and so on.
C. Engine must be located in stock position on original mounts- no setbacks.
D. No rear engine, mid-engine, or rotary engine cars permitted.
E. Head: cast iron, no aluminum except for import cars, open head with solid lift cam (porting & polishing allowed) (any size valves) (no roller cams)(no 2 spark plug per cylinder heads allowed) (SOHC only)
F. Short Block: any modifications, must weigh one (1) pound per cc, it must be identified on the hood. This will be teched by checking bore and stroke or P & G.
G. Intake manifold: stock for make. Port and Polish permitted.
H. Carburetor: shall be a Holley 4412 or Holley 7448 with a max of 500 cfm. Must pass go-no-go from the bottom.
I. Carburetor spacer: any size.
J. Pulleys: Any aftermarket.
K. Ignition: Any ignition.
L. Headers permitted, exhaust must exit parallel to the ground.

8. Trans and Drive Train

A. Transmission shall be stock manuel or automatic. Automatics shall have a working torque converter.
B. Must have a working reverse and forward gear.
C. Manuel transmission cars shall have an explosion proof bellhousing or the transmission tunnel should be lined with conveyor belt material. Minimum 3/8” thick and 18” wide. This material shall be on the underside of transmission tunnel.
D. No aluminum flywheels. Any steel flywheel allowed. Stock clutch and pressure plate only. No small diameter clutches allowed. Clutch inspection hole of 1 ½” required on top of bellhousing.
E. Rearends must be stock for make of the car, no truck rearends or quick changes allowed.
F. Rearends may be locked by welding spider gears.
G. Drive shaft must be painted white with a drive shaft safety loop mounted at least 6 inches behind the front u-joint.
H. All cars must have a working starter.



ANY RULE NOT COVERED WILL BE DECIDED BY INSPECTOR. INSPECTOR’S DECISION WILL BE FINAL.




2008 MINI STOCK
GENERAL RULES

1. Firesuits are required. Top and bottom or one piece. If the suit is a two piece both the top and bottom must be worn at the same time. Note: It is also highly recommended that all drivers wear fire retardant shoes, gloves and underwear.
2. Helmets are required and must be worn at all times when car is on the track. Helmet must have face and eye protection. (This means shield or goggles.)
3. Quick release, five (5) point shoulder harness no less than 3” wide is mandatory. This harness must be mounted below the drivers shoulders and come from behind the driver. The date on the belt must not exceed 4 years. Damaged belts will not be permitted. Both ends of belts must be fastened to roll cage with quality bolts, no less than 3/8" in diameter.
4. Fire extinguishers are mandatory. Minimum 2 lbs. must be securely mounted within reach of the driver. Extinguisher must have a pressure gauge.
5. Kill switch is required within easy reach of the driver.
6. Tow hooks front and rear required.
7. Car numbers and letters must be at least 18 inches high and be neatly painted on both sides of the car, on the doors only. A number and letters 36 inches high must be painted on the roof reading from the passenger’s side. A number and letters at least 6 inches high must be painted on the right front and right rear of each car where they can be clearly viewed by track officials and other competitors. Numbers and letters must sharply contrast with the cars paint scheme so that the numbers are easily read.
8. All cars must maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance. The management of each track reserves the right to refuse participation of any car which does not appear in this manner.
9. Gasoline only, no nitrous oxide allowed, no alcohol.
10. Fuel cells mandatory.
11. Fuel cell must be encased in approved container of no less than 20 gauge steel, must have rollover valve, and must be secured with a minimum of two (2) 2” wide steel straps (min. 1/16 in) thick.
12. Cars must start under their own power. No direct drives allowed. Cars must have a working reverse gear.
13. All participants must be at least 15 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
14. All cars are subject to inspection by track officials at any time. The track has the right to confiscate any part and/or equipment found during inspection that does not meet specifications.
15. Drive shaft loops recommended. Suggested 2 x ¼” thickness minimum. Drive shafts must be painted white.
16. All glass, mirrors, chrome and flammable material must be removed.
17. All sheet metal must be securely fastened.
18. All cars must have working brakes
19. All cars must have a firewall with no holes between driver and the engine and driver and the fuel cell.
20. If the battery is located in the driver’s compartment it shall be in a box and securely fastened.
21. Window nets are required.
22. No turn down header, headers must exit parallel to the around.
23. New cars or first time competitors are eligible to run one (1) race without meeting all track rules, however, track officials discretion will be utilized. Safety regulations will be enforced.
24. With the purchase of a pit pass each competitor or spectator agrees to all the terms and conditions set forth in this rule book.
25. A car that has been determined to be illegal will not be allowed to race until all illegal problems have been corrected.
26. All lead must be secured with ½ bolts and be painted white and have car # on it.
27. No mirrors.
